After some time contemplating a new camera I had to decide between the 5DMKII and the 7D. I really wanted to do HD Video and have all the best available options at my disposal. The 7D seemed to suit me best based on my budget, needs, and current lenses.
I have done a few test shots and so far it is amazing. The video is really what sets it apart. When I through my 30mm F/1.4 on it the DOF is extremely shallow (what I really wanted). This really allows for creative filming.
Tomorrow we will be heading up to the Science Center in Los Angeles and then possibly back to the Getty Center for sunset pictures.
Ill have some stuff up by Sunday evening of the samples and hopefully some video as well.

For some time now I have been meaning to get up to the Getty Center in Los Angeles. If you are not familiar with it the Getty in LA it is an amazing architectural facility along with gobs of Western Art, sculptures, and beautiful gardens. Currently they are featuring Rembrandt and his pupils.
For me Art really gives us a picture into the past. One of my favorite aspects is to see the architecture along with the style of living in portraits of life.
We will be heading up again in a few weeks to see the rest, along with some day photography of the gardens and cafes. If you get a chance to go, it is a must.
Below you will see the facility itself, and then a few items which I have photographed.
All of the photos can be found HERE

It has been 3 weeks since I have been able to have a weekend at home. 3 weeks ago we were in Las Vegas covering CES 2010, and all the previous week I was in London and Birmingham, UK for the Autosport show. The work load this week has been unseasonable high along with a training class crammed in there. Its nice to have a weekend to relax and get stuff done at home.
Last weekend Megan was able to complete our wedding invitations and get them mailed out. Many of you should have already received them. If not, let us know. We will be rehearsing this weekend to make sure everything will run smoothly. Since we are overly anal we have everything going on a flow chart so its done right.
Here are some shots of the Wedding Invitations. Megan designed and made these herself. They turned out fantastic.

Today is our last full day in the UK. We spend all day and evening sight seeing in London. It is a huge mix of cultures and has a vast expanse of city. The public transportation is great for people who want to get anywhere fast. Food was something that so many people said was bad, however, if you find the right places you will not be disappointed. I highly suggest using www.yelp.com when traveling anywhere for finding highly rated food and places see. For those who have not been here it is a must see and do. I can now cross this off the list. Hopefully next time I am back I can stay for about a week and really soak up the UK.
The next trip for us will be in April when we sail the Caribbean. I am looking forward to it very much as it will be my Honeymoon.
Here are some of the pictures I took today.

We just finished up today at the 2010 International Autosport Show in Birmingham, UK. The show was extremely good for us and allowed us to further advance our position as the industry leader. I got a chance to meet some of my customers whom I have never met in person. This was certainly a show filled with more tier 1 racing products than any other show currently.
Some of the most impressive things were the Powertec Engineerings 2.6 Liter V8. If you are not familiar with it, they use 2 hayabusa 1300 cc engines with a custom center section and a built in dry sump.
Here is the engine:

Another item that is catching on lately is the data logging and dash display. While it has been around for 10+ years, just recently it is becoming more common on street cars.

Here are some photos from our booth and the Engineering Show.

Below are the show section photos. Autosport is separated into two sections where the Autosport Engineering is in one, while the show cars and more universal products are in the larger hall. The Autosport Engineering section is trade only.

Day 2 for us at SEMA was just as expected; awesome! With all the new computers, screens, and hardware coming out we had to rush through the South Hall before it closed for the day.
The first part of our day was spent at the International section of CES. This was mainly companies from China and Taiwan showcasing their new products.
New hand held HD Video cameras.

New portable iPhone mixer for DJ’s on the go.

Below is a new wide screen photo frames with weather, clock, and calendars built in.

We also got a hand on look at the new Motorola cell phones. They are getting better and faster every year. The best part is that the major cell companies are picking them up and subsidizing them to make them affordable.

Another item this year was the E-book reader and mini tablet. There were more than a dozen companies offering their version of an E-book reader along with some video or picture capabilities. Over the next 2 years we will really be seeing them pop up everywhere.

Below is the Intel display for their new 32nm Core i7 processors. This display features a full touchscreen via infrared touch technology. The picture is back lit projected and the computer is running 500+ concurrent searches and news feeds that respond to each persons touch. Intel was also compiling where people were touching the screen and popular searches.

Hey everyone. CES 2010 has been great so far. From the signs of things, the economy has not slowed production on the next shift in technology. There seemed to be a hiatus from a real tech change for the last 5-10 years. This year things are different.
So far this is the year of 3D and USB 3.0. Every major manufacturer is displaying their latest and greatest 3D TV’s with gaming, movies, and even live streaming Direct TV in 3D. Some are certainly better than others, so don’t mistaking one brands with another. It will be best to go see it for yourself when it hits the stores.

Another large release that we all have been waiting for is the HTC HD2. Steve Balmer of Microsoft released yesterday morning the T-Mobile USA will be providing this uber cool phone in March of 2010. With features like the Snapdragon 1 ghz processor and its massive 4.3″ touch screen this baby really is going to make some waves. I got a chance to play with it for some time yesterday and I must say I was really worried about it being on Windows 6.5. After spending some time going through the applications I can honestly say that I am very impressed. I have been personally using the first gen iPhone so my basis is somewhere in the middle of the average smartphone user. The phone isn’t laggy and seamlessly moves from application to application. Adding programs or web pages to the quick links on the front page is really easy. My real concern was with people saying that you couldn’t use it with one hand and one hand only. However, i was able to manage 99% of the daily features one handing it. That is a huge plus for me since I am always on the go and multitasking.

The LCD TV’s are getting bigger, faster, and thinner. LG and Samsung are racing for who can make the thinnest LCD. We saw 6.9mm thick flat panel LCD that was as clear as possible and features lightning fast refresh rates. Only a few years ago we were seeing people throw around 120hz, last year was the year of 240hz, and naturally this year we are in the 480hz talk. Another break through was the colors in LCD’s. Generally all colors are generated three basic colors; red, green, and blue. This year yellow was introduced into the pixel level to really brighten things up. The matrix of the pixel shape was also change for more picture control and clarity. This is something that has been talked about for some time, however to see it in person was amazing.

Well, another year is passing. This year has especially gone fast, and I must say that this year had the most ups and downs of them all. Something like a Six Flags roller coaster ride.
As we start the new year I will attempt to actually start writing in my blog and updating it. I have so much planned for 2010 so might as well document it and share it with the world.
In exactly 100 days I will be getting married so we are finally getting down the the wire. Megan and I will be starting our 100 day training program. It will consist of 500 miles of running and cycling before the wedding, alone with a few 5 and 10k runs.
Onto tonight… New Years Eve. We will be heading to Long Beach to see Travis Pastrana jump an STI 250′ onto a Barge in the middle of the water. I should have some pictures posted tomorrow.
